Project Specifications

We recently undertook a furnishing and erection project at Elizabethtown College in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania. Our client asked us to build a fitness center for their institution, which would serve as a hub for health and well-being among students and the campus community. This building would eventually be known as The Bowers Center.

The Bowers Center is 39,079 square feet, with building specifications measuring 141 feet and 8 inches wide by 275 feet and 10 1/4 inches long by 34 feet and 8 inches low eave height. Our experienced team installed wall supports for 10-foot-high split face masonry walls and eight wall framed openings.

Materials Used

One of the mediums we used for the recreation center included DM40 insulated wall panels — low-profile, moisture-resistant surfaces that are well-suited for thick, long-length walls. We also used 24-gauge standing seam roof panels. These robust metal panels boast various structural advantages, such as resistance to weather, cracking and rotting, low-maintenance properties and increased energy efficiency.

Elizabethtown College required a new indoor sports facility to support its growing athletics program and empower the campus community to take on healthier lifestyles, and Rose Metal Buildings delivered.

We erected a state-of-the-art recreation center with many innovative characteristics that students could use to improve their personal health and well-being, including three full-sized basketball courts, batting cages and an indoor track. The Bowers Center gym features many additional components, such as six locker rooms, fitness and athletic areas, and multipurpose rooms for students to enjoy.

Now, Elizabethtown College uses the Bowers Center as a community gym and management center for extracurricular events and campus programming that focus on holistic health.
